    Abstract
The practice gap analysis is an important tool to estimate to what extent the production could be increased if all factors are controlled. The study was conducted among the farmers of six villages under Taherpur Upazila of Sunamganj district to assess the hindrances to the higher yield and to determine the gap of production packages recommended for haor area in relation to boro rice production. A structured interview schedule was used to collect data from of a sample of 100 farmers of six villages during June to August, 2014. Practice gap was determined on the basis of the difference between the recommended production package for boro rice and actual practice of the farmers of haor area. Overwhelming majority (84 percent) of the farmers had medium (18.02 – 31.42 percent) to high (31.43 – 44.85 percent) practice gap. It was due to high gap in some production packages like application of urea in seedbed, age of seedlings for transplanting, line-line & hill-hill spacing, gypsum dose in main field, harvesting maturity of rice. Education, family education, organizational participation, extension contact, farming experience and attitude towards modern boro rice cultivation had negative and constraints in adoption of production package had positive significant correlation with practice gap.
