An experiment on Rapeseed/Mustard varieties/lines was conducted at the Agronomy research field of Sylhet Agricultural University, Sylhet-3100, during the Rabi season (November 2012 to February 2013) to evaluate the performances of rapeseed/mustard varieties/lines in Sylhet region. It also aims to utilize the fallow land and residual soil moisture that remain fallow after harvesting of T. Aman in this region. Twelve varieties/lines of rapeseed/mustard namely Improved tori, TS-72, BARI sarisha-8, BARI sarisha-9, BARI sarisha-12, BARI sarisha-14, BARI sarisha-15 and Binasarisha-4, BC-05115 Y, BC-05117 Y, BC-05118 Y and Nap-205 were tested in this experiment. The experiment was conducted following Randomized Completely Blocked Design (RCBD) with three replications. Some growth parameters data during crop growth period and up to maturity were collected. At maturity yield contributing parameters were recorded which were statistically analyzed following the design used for conducting the experiment. Results of dry matter production pattern at different days after sowing showed that the variety BARI sarisha-8, Binasarisha-4, BARI sarisha-15 and line MC05118 Y produced the highest dry matter and BARI sarisha-14 produced the lowest. The variety BARI sarisha-15, BARI sarisha-14, TS-72 and MC-05118 Y produced the maximum number of leaves/plant while the lowest in the lines Nap-205 and BC-05117 Y. At maturity, maximum numbers of branches/plant were produced by the varieties Improved tori, BARI sarisha-8, TS-72 and BARI sarisha-15 and the minimum by Binasarisha-4. The plant height of BARI sarisha-15, BARI sarisha-8, Binasarisha-4 and the line Nap-205 were higher than the others. Plant population at maturity, number of siliquae/plant, number of seeds/siliqua, 1000 seed weight, and seed yields significantly differed among the varieties and advanced lines. The highest seed yield (1.46 t/ha) was obtained from BARI sarisha-8 which was followed by BARI sarisha-15, BARI sarisha-14, Binasarisha-4 and Improved Tori. The variety Binasarisha-4 required the maximum days (85) for maturity but Improved tori and BARI sarisha-14 had the minimum days (71-72). Genetic advance study, correlation and path coefficient analysis revealed that Improved tori, BARI sarisha-8, BARI sarisha-14 and BARI sarisha15 had positive genetic advancements along with higher yield.en_US
